Sarah Palin Says Levi Johnston Is Welcome at Thanksgiving

If Levi Johnston would like a piece of the Palin family turkey, Sarah Palin will save him a seat at her Thanksgiving table.

"It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," the former Alaska governor, 45, tells Oprah Winfrey in an interview to air Nov. 16, the day before the publication of Palin's memoir, Going Rogue.

"Because," she said, "he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too, Oprah. I think he needs to know that he is loved and he has the most beautiful child and this can all work out for good."

Such an appearance would also go a long way to healing the ugly rift between Palin and her almost son-in-law and father of her grandchild, she says.

"We don't have to keep going down this road of controversy and drama all the time," she says. "We're not really into the drama. We don't really like that. We're more productive. We have other things to concentrate on."

Conflicting Views

That's not the only thing Palin spills during the sit-down. She also discusses her infamously inarticulate interview with Katie Couric, mercilessly mocked on Saturday Night Live. She says her handlers from the John McCain campaign tried to paint an unrealistically rosy picture afterwards.

"The campaign said, 'Right on. Good. You're showing your independence. This is what America needs to see and it was a good interview,' " Palin says. " And of course I'm thinking, 'If you thought that was a good interview, I don't know what a bad interview is because I knew it was a bad interview.'"

All in all, her sit-down with Oprah was a "great conversation," Palin writes on her Facebook page.

"We ... enjoyed it so much that we went way over on time," she writes. "Oprah was very hospitable and gracious, and her audience was full of warm, energized and (no doubt) curious viewers."
