>The comedian, 48, kicks off his new late-night talk show Nov. 9 on TBS.
WHY DO A TALK SHOW?
I was inspired by campaigning with Barack Obama and that message of inclusiveness and diversity. It's time for that change to come to TV.
WHAT'S THE VIBE?
Twenty years ago, when I was on The Arsenio Hall Show, it was hip, it was happening, it was inclusive. I mean, I was on with Mel Gibson and Ice-T.
WHO'S YOUR TALK SHOW HERO?
I think Johnny Carson was the baddest of all, back in the day. Brother sat there with clothes that are actually back in style now--an ascot. I'd like to rock the ascot one night.
WILL THINGS EVER GET SERIOUS?
I'd love to make somebody cry. I think Taylor Lautner's coming on. I may show him pictures of him I have when he was 12 and we did [The Adventures of] Shark Boy and Lavagirl together.
