"They're cool," Murphy, 41, tells PEOPLE of Strahan, 39, and Eddie Murphy, 48, the father of her five children – Bria, 20, Myles, 17, Shayne, 15, Zola, 9, and Bella, 7. "They'll give each other a hug when they see each other."
Now, three years after her divorce, Murphy is preparing to wed again. After two years of dating, Strahan proposed in the Bahamas last June.
"I'm excited," says Murphy, who vowed she would never marry again – until she met Strahan. "I didn't think I would," she says. "I mean, there were good times, and there were some bad times, and [after my divorce] I was thinking, 'Ugh, I don't ever want to get married again.' So when I met somebody that I have everything in common with, who I enjoy being with, it was so refreshing."
"I love the fact that I can act silly in front of Michael," she says, "just sing out loud and do whatever. We'll just laugh at each other. We're comfortable with each other, and we have a lot in common."
As for their June 2010 wedding, Murphy is planning a small beach affair incorporating all nine of her children – her five, and Strahan’s four – into the wedding party.
"It's my second time around, and I had the big extravagant wedding when I got married to Eddie. I want to do something really simple," she says. "I want the dress to be flowy and elegant, and I'd love all the guests to wear cream, and no shoes on the beach.
And will the happy couple be looking to add to their family?
"No way!" Murphy says with a chuckle. "I'm waiting for grandbabies now."
