In Las Vegas with pals Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Gosling joined the couple for a party they hosted at LAVO.
"He walked into the club just after midnight and headed straight to Joel's table," a source said. "His mom was close to him the whole night."
With his mother Donna and three friends by his side, Gosling, 29, paid a low-key visit to the VIP table, sipping drinks and attempting to remain unnoticed. During his short stay, the Notebook star was spotted chatting with Dexter actress Jamie Murray.
"They seemed to know each other," the source said. "They chatted for a few minutes and hugged."
