Mariah Carey blamed her recent tipsy acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on splashes of champagne, but that hasn't turned the singer off of bubbly.

"ANGEL CHAMPAGNE (ROSE) by MC coming soon!" she Tweeted on Friday.

That night, during her concert at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Connecticut – her first show since the film festival – the singer poked fun at herself with several champagne-related jokes.

Though she has been known to make comments about drinking at her shows in the past, her cracks took on new meaning in light of her speech.

Early in the show, she walked to a table on the stage to get a drink from a clear plastic bottle and announced, "It's not liquor, I promise. ... But there is a [champagne] bottle up there and I can't make any promises. Joking, joking, joking."

At one point, Carey's makeup artist and hairstylist came out for touch-ups and the makeup artist handed her a glass of champagne. "This is what happens," she cracked. "They force it down my throat."

Later, while singing "Emotions," she emphasized the word "intoxicated" in the lyrics.

Despite a few glitches – she admitted she didn't know the set list at one point, and also restarted "We Belong Together" after apparently forgetting the lyrics – Carey thrilled the audience, not to mention her husband, Nick Cannon, who made a brief appearance on stage during "The Impossible," the song he inspired.

Cannon, who deejayed at the club Shrine at the MGM Grand after the concert, deemed his wife's show "amazing."

Though she didn't make it to his show (he said she was "probably resting her voice" for another concert the following night), the actor-rapper gave her a shout-out and played a few of her songs (including and "Fantasy and Obsessed") during his set.

Afterward, he discussed his wife's acting accolades –"It's wonderful," he told PEOPLE. "I couldn't be more proud" – and whether he thinks she deserves an Oscar for her role in Precious. "Of course I do," said Cannon, who admitted he's seen the film "probably like 18" times. "But I'm the husband!"

On Sunday the couple attended the Golden Globe Awards, where Cannon hosted the after-show on NBC. On Tuesday, he kicks off a new job hosting a morning radio show on New York's 92.3 NOW-FM.

Any chance they'll add the role of parents to their resumes in the near future? "We'll see," he said. "It's a busy time right now. We'll get ready to put our heads together and focus."
