“I just think it’s a goal to have and other women should have that goal,” said Bristol, appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show via satellite from Alaska.
Since her now 13-month-old son Tripp was born, Bristol says she has, at times, suffered from depression. “I have this big, supportive family and stuff, but I just felt so alone,” she said. “I have a kid in my life and it’s my full-time job now.”
Her mother, who joined her on the program, says she should have talked more openly to her oldest daughter about sex before the teenager got pregnant. The former vice presidential candidate – now a Fox News contributor – said her family has learned “such lessons.”
“It was a shock to find out she was pregnant," Palin, 45, said. "Like so many other parents, I thought, not my kid.”
