Olympic snowboarder and Dancing with the Stars competitor Louie Vito has been blogging for PEOPLE from the Vancouver Games. Today, he shares his disappointment at coming in fifth behind teammates Scotty Lago, a childhood friend who took the bronze, and two-time gold medalist Shaun White. He dishes on White's public debut of the Double McTwist 1260, his plan to cheer on the U.S. women’s hockey team, and what's coming up next for him when the games end.

Nerves of Steel
[Before the competition], I was really kind of surprised I wasn't even really nervous at all. I was more relaxed than I was expecting myself [to be], but I'm happy it was like that.

More Amplitude
I'm happy with both my runs [in the finals]. I wish I could've ended up on the podium, but it is what it is. I needed to go a little bigger, I think. But it's hard when I travel a little bit more on my tricks than on my double cork ... But I was just happy I landed it in finals. Shaun [White] was the only person you really saw in finals land the back-to-back double corks, which I think shows the difficulty of [that trick]. But I guess [the judges] were looking for more amplitude … I can't control what [the judges] are looking for. To me, it was kind of nice to hear the crowd booing both times at the end [when they saw] my scores because at least they were into it. That's all that matters.

Good to Be Included
The U.S. is the hardest team to make the Olympics for, and I'm just thankful that I'm here and had the opportunity. It's awesome and it's cool, and I had a great time. It's a dream come true. I wish I would've ended up on the podium, but it is what it is. I'd love to make it back the next time around.

Shaun White's Big Trick
It was cool! I've seen him to do it before, so it was nothing really new for me. You're obviously stoked for your friends, but you definitely wish you were up there. I was definitely excited to congratulate them, especially Scotty. I've known Scotty since I was really, really young, so it's cool to see that.

What's Next
I'm hanging around for the [the rest of the Games]. I've got to get that whole, full Olympics experience in! I like hockey. It's during the winter, so I don't get to go to that many games, but it's always fun to watch. And the snowboard team made some good friends with the women's hockey team, so they're gonna go support them.

After the Olympics
I think I'm gonna go to France and hang out at the [winter Europe] X Games. I'm not a hundred percent sure yet, though. I'm just taking it one day at a time. I'm up for anything!
