Conan O'Brien has a monkey on his back. No, really. A photo of the two of them appears on his Twitter page, along with the following Tweet from the recently deposed NBC host: "Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me."

And help responded – nearly a quarter of a million followers by Thursday morning. By the Hollywood Reporter's count, the redhaired Harvard grad actually attracted some 100,000 fans within three hours of his posting, with enrollment growing at the rate of 1,000 fans a minute.

If only his Tonight Show debut had been so auspicious. As O'Brien states in his Twitter bio: "I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account."
