>• Off with her head! Helena Bonham Carter explains how she transformed into Alice in Wonderland's evil Red Queen.

The first thing director Tim Burton told wife Helena Bonham Carter about her role as the Red Queen in his Alice adaptation? "He said, 'We're going to make your head big, but you'll have a tiny waist." From there, Burton took the concept sketch (above left) and handed it to famed costume designer Colleen Atwood (sketch above right). "Colleen's a genius," says Bonham Carter. "I even have hearts on the base of my feet!" The best part was having a computer-animated body. "I could stuff my face," says the actress, "and it didn't matter."
