Tori Spelling is downplaying rumors of marital strife with Dean McDermott after leaked footage from the new season of Tori & Dean showed the couple in a major fight.

"We're not headed for divorce," Spelling, 36, said Monday on NBC's Today show. "We're committed to each other, we're committed to this family. But you know, we work on things just like everyone else."

Footage from the fifth season of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, which premieres Monday on Oxygen, reportedly shows Spelling telling her husband of almost four years: "It's like you got more and more unhappy and angry. I just want the old Dean back. I really do. I miss you so much."

But Spelling says not to worry – that she and McDermott, 43, are just like any other married couple.

"We have our fights. We have our ups and downs. It's a real relationship," she says. "Some issues have come up this season, and the cameras were there to catch it. And I'm happy to put that out there to my fans, because we're a normal, relatable couple. We're not perfect, and things happen."

Sometimes, though, she dreams of living with her husband and kids – Liam, 3, and Stella, 22 months – away from the cameras. "I know show business has been my life, and I love doing it," she says. "But I have this other side that wants to be the soccer mom and wants to live in a small town and take my kids in the carpool and be at home and cook dinner every night. … I kind of wish I had both, that I could balance both."

She also spoke of her often-troubled relationship with her mother, Candy Spelling, saying that – knock on wood – it's getting better all the time.

"It's a work in progress, but it's great," she says. "She sees the grandkids all the time. She loves them, they're taken by her. So we're just working towards improving our relationship."
