Who's Up for Breakout Star at MTV Movie Awards?

05/12/2010 at 09:10 AM EDT

The MTV Movie Awards will have a taste of the serious and the silly this year – at least in the best breakout star category.

The Hangover's hilarious Zach Galifianakas will be up against Oscar-nominated Gabourey Sidibe, star of the heart-wrenching Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

"The moment I heard it my heart jumped a little and, oddly, I have always wanted golden popcorn," Sidibe says of the nomination and the statuette that will be handed out at the live broadcast on June 6.

Other nominees in that category include Anna Kendrick for Up in the Air, Chris Pine for Star Trek, Logan Lerman for Percy Jackon and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Quinton Aaron for The Blind Side.

Galifianakas, who is also nominated for best comedic performance, picked apart the competition in that category, assuring MTV News that Ben Stiller (Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian) "won't win," that his Hangover costar Bradley Cooper "doesn't deserve to be on that list," and that Ryan Reynolds's "eyes are too close together."

Sandra Bullock is also nominated for The Proposal.

Fans can vote in all 12 categories beginning at noon at MovieAwards.mtv.com.
