Picks and Pans Review: Lost's Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse Our Favorite TV Twists
>• As their ABC drama comes to an end May 23 after six seasons of surprises, the executive producers recall the other jaw-dropping TV moments they'll never forget.
BOBBY EWING GOES FROM THE GRAVE TO THE SHOWER ON DALLAS
When Patrick Duffy returned to Dallas a year after being killed off, "they pushed the do-over button and revealed the entire season had been a dream. I remember feeling betrayed," says Lindelof, who jokes, "This is what we did for Lost."
DICK SARGENT REPLACES DICK YORK AS DARRIN ON BEWITCHED
"As a kid, I loved that show," says Cuse. "Suddenly there's this new guy playing Darrin, and there was no explanation given. I was like, 'Can they really do that?' Doesn't it violate some sacrosanct rule of television?"
ROSALIND SHAYS' ELEVATOR SHAFT DEATH ON L.A. LAW
"She's walking along having a normal conversation, then she steps into an empty elevator shaft," says Cuse of Diana Muldaur's sudden demise. "Did that just happen? The sheer ordinariness of everything leading up to it was just brilliant."
CHRIS DAUGHTRY'S EARLY EXIT FROM AMERICAN IDOL
"I was absolutely convinced Daughtry was going to win," says Lindelof. "He was knocked out so prematurely. It was a sense of, your vote really does count. That moment, I'm sure, led to the (judges') save rule."
