It was a meeting and a courtship so gleeful, it probably would make Sue Sylvester sulk.

"We actually have a picture of the moment we met," Glee star Jane Lynch, who plays the hilariously menacing Coach Sylvester on the Fox hit, tells The New York Times about a May 2009 San Francisco fund-raiser where she was a presenter and clinical psychologist Dr. Lara Embry was among those being honored.

At the gathering, it was the good doctor who pushed to meet Lynch. "I said, 'I want my picture taken with her,' " Embry tells the newspaper. "I thought she was cute."

Both described the attraction between them as immediate, and the fact they each worked in highly disparate professions was not a roadblock. "It's not like she's marrying out of her species or anything," says Lynch.

Adds Embry: "I knew of her work, but not extensively. I was basically ignorant of it."

Now, Embry is fully aware of it. The two married last weekend, on Memorial Day, at the Blue Heron restaurant in Sunderland, Mass., in what was described as a jazzy wedding. Not that it was a direct route to say "I do."

Motherhood a 'Real Delight'

After San Francisco, says The Times, Lynch, now 49, headed back to Los Angeles and Embry, 41, returned to Sarasota, Fla., where she practices at the Carter Psychology Center and raises her daughter, Haden, 8. Embry was also seeking visitation rights with her 10-year-old adoptive daughter, Chase.

Over the course of their long-distance relationship, however, the two discovered "we are both fascinated by emotional experience and are essentially hopeful people, but that temperamentally we express it differently," says Embry. "I tend to be more calm and reserved, and Jane is not. She's expressive and exuberant and gregarious."

Continues Lynch: "Lara's very patient. I move fast. I'm very impulsive, and we kind of process things at a different pace. So we've both had to step up in that area. I've had to slow down, and she had to get a move on."

As such, Lynch has had to adjust to being a mother to an 8-year-old. Embry says that to practice for an episode of Glee" on which Lynch was to do a takeoff of Madonna's "Vogue" video, Haden assisted – and the two (Lynch and Haden) often break into song and dance together.

"I'm almost 50, and I thought that possibility was behind me, so this is a real delight," says Lynch, who added with a laugh that when it came to her own biological clock, "I never even heard it ticking."
