Why? Prince William, who turns 28 on June 21, once made an off-hand statement to a reporter in a nightclub that he wouldn't wed until he was "28 or even 30." Since then, the masses have been atwitter over a possible engagement for William and his longtime love Kate Middleton around the time of his 28th birthday.
However, it seems unlikely that he'll pop the question Monday. Instead of announcing an engagement, the prince – who has been in South Africa doing charity work and attending the World Cup – is flying a Sea King helicopter at the RAF Valley military base on Anglesey island in North Wales.
The only way that Middleton, 28, will see her beau is if she heads up to the farmhouse he's renting near the base.
Visiting William is something that Middleton been doing a lot lately as they find time to spend together when he is off duty from his Search and Rescue training. The couple, who have been dating on-and-off for about seven years, have even reportedly been spotted doing domestic chores like grocery shopping at the local town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.
On Monday, however, there has been no sign of Middelton, who was recently spotted enjoying drinks in the sunshine with a girlfriend in London's swanky Bluebird cafe on the Kings Road.
And if she is preparing to become the next princess, she certainly didn't given any outward sign of it at the time, according to a witness. "She was very low key, no bodyguards, no fuss," says a fellow shopper. "They blended in with everyone else and seemed to be having a great time gossiping and laughing like she didn't have a care in the world."
