A landscaper who once worked for Kyron Horman's family told authorities that the missing Oregon boy's stepmom offered him "a large sum of money" to kill her husband, reports The Oregonian, citing unnamed sources.

The alleged murder-for-hire plot was first discussed by Terri Moulton Horman six months before the 7-year-old disappeared on June 4, the landscaper reportedly told law enforcement officials.

Detectives with the Multnomah County Major Crimes Team shared the landscaper's account with Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, last week, the paper claims. Two days later, Kaine moved out of the couple’s home with their 19-month-old daughter and Terri was served with divorce papers and a retraining order forbidding her from contacting the family.

When officials confronted Terri with the allegations, the former elementary school teacher, 40, denied them, sources tell the paper.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office declined to comment and would only say that the information released in The Oregonian's report did not come from them.

Terri, believed to be the last person to have seen the missing second grader, has hired a prominent defense attorney, though she has not been named a suspect or a person of interest in Kyron's disappearance.

On Thursday, Kyron's mother, Desiree Young, publicly pleaded with Terri Horman to "fully cooperate with investigators to bring Kyron home."
