Emmy isn't much different from the public and TV critics – she loves Glee and Modern Family, too – though the leader of the pack, with 24 nominations, is the HBO miniseries about World War II, The Pacific.

Glee was not far behind, with 19, followed by 17 nominations for AMC's period drama series – and last year's big winner – Mad Men.

NBC's glib TV sitcom about TV, 30 Rock, scored 15 nominations, including those for stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, giving it one more nomination than Modern Family, it was announced Thursday morning.

Then there were some big surprises. HBO's vampire series True Blood made it into the arena as a contender for best dramatic series. And … drumroll ... Conan O'Brien's aborted NBC Tonight show received a nomination for best music, variety or comedy program – clearly a swipe at his network and his successor, Jay Leno, who did not make the cut.

The 62nd annual Primetime Emmys will air live on NBC on Sunday, Aug. 29, from 8-11 p.m. ET. Other time zones delayed. Jimmy Fallon will host.
