Here's how other stars reacted:
Sofia Vergara: "I'm so new to acting," says the actress, who co-presented the nominations Thursday in Hollywood with Community actor Joel McHale and wound up with a supporting actress nod for her work on Modern Family. "I'm not American, so I didn't know that it meant something when they invite you here. Somebody should have told me!"
Ty Burrell: How will the Modern Family star celebrate his supporting actor nomination? "We have a six-month-old daughter," he says, "so maybe we will raise a bottle of baby formula!"
Eric Stonestreet: "I purposefully made myself stay up until about 2, 2:30 last night so I could be really dead asleep this morning," says Burrell's costar, who is also nominated for supporting actor in a comedy. "I got to talk to my mom and dad really quickly and my dad was a bawling, miserable mess . . . and my mom was a bawling, miserable mess!"
Ricky Gervais: "I did my first day filming on Curb Your Enthusiasm last night and woke up to the news that I'd been Emmy-nominated for both The Office and The Ricky Gervais Show," says Gervais. "I'm terrified that I'm actually still asleep and back at school . . . 'Gervais! Wake up you useless idiot! You'll never amount to anything!' "
Tina Fey: "This is great news. We're grateful and excited," the outstanding actress nominee says. "Especially since today is the fifth anniversary of the day NBC forgot to cancel us."
Seth Green: Nominated for his voice-work on his animated show Robot Chicken, Green, who recently tied the knot with actress Clare Grant, says of finding out about his nomination, "I had to quietly sneak out the room. The nomination has overshadowed the fact that we are sleep-deprived and delirious!"
Conan O'Brien: The late-night host, who will have a new show on TBS, wrote on Twitter: "Congrats to my staff on 4 Emmy nominations. This bodes well for the future of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."
Jane Krakowski: Nominated in the supporting comedic actress category for her work on 30 Rock, Krakowski said, "This is such exciting news! It is such an honor to be included in this group of funny talented women! I am indebted to Tina Fey and the greatest comedy writing team on television. I am going to celebrate by eating a piece of cheese. Just kidding, designers. I promise, no cheese will cross these lips or hips until after the ceremony."
Kathy Griffin: The reality star also took to Twitter: "EMMY nominated!!!!! My Life on the D List in the same category as @Ryanseacrest He IS out to get me. Now will u listen???"
