The glamour queen, believed to be 93 (she would never tell), has made it through risky anesthesia and surgery to replace a hip following a weekend fall from her bed that left her with several broken bones.
The operation, performed at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, was successful, according to Gabor's husband – her ninth – Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Gabor's publicist, John Blanchette, added, "She's a fighter, and we're hopeful that things will work out well."
The former Miss Hungary, famous for her love affairs and marriages (always to rich men), is the great-aunt of Paris Hilton through her 1942-46 marriage to hotel magnate Conrad Hilton. Gabor also appeared in movies of the 1950s and on TV talk shows. Her popular younger sister, Green Acres star Eva Gabor, died in 1995.
A car accident in 2002 confined Zsa Zsa to a wheelchair, and in 2005 she suffered a stroke.
On Monday, Gabor's daughter Francesca Hilton issued a statement, according to the Times. "My mother is not in critical condition or at death's door," said Hilton. "She was on the phone in the hospital today while having lunch."
