If that backup singer on Sheryl Crow's cover of Terence Trent D'Arby's 1988 hit "Sign Your Name" sounds familiar, he should: It's Justin Timberlake!
The "SexyBack" singer lends his trademark vocals to Crow's new album, 100 Miles From Memphis, out Tuesday.
In a behind-the-scenes video of their recording session at L.A.'s Henson Studios that first debuted on Rollingstone.com, Timberlake shares his admiration for the mom-of-two's musical chops. "It's dope, I like her voice so much," he says.
Crow recently told Billboard magazine that the collaboration was a happy coincidence. "[Justin] happened to be at [Henson] producing Jamie Foxx, and he was in the hallway," she said. "I played [the song] for him, and when it got to the chorus he's like, 'Who's doing the backgrounds?' I said 'We haven't done them yet,' and he said, 'I got it.' It was all very organic and, man, perfect."
Crow's new album also features appearances by Keith Richards and Citizen Cope.
