While early announcements from the Palace in Monaco didn't go beyond stating a general wedding date of next summer, Thursday morning delivered the desired specifics: Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock will marry in a civil ceremony to take place in the Throne Room of Monaco's Pink Palace next July 8.

In addition, said the Palace, on July 9 a religious ceremony will be held for Albert, 52, and Wittstock, 32, "in a site to be confirmed later."

Sources tell PEOPLE that plans call for the religious ceremony – which will be televised – to be held at Monaco's Notre Dame of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

The July weekend surrounding the wedding will also mark the 6th year of Albert's reign over the principality.

The son of Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly succeeded his father in a formal ceremony on July 12, 2005, shortly after Rainer's death. Kelly died in 1982. The religious ceremony of Grace and Rainier in April 1956 was also televised live – a pioneering event in its day.
