Depleted Bank Accounts, Isolation from Friends ...
HOW SIMON CONTROLLED BRITTANY
The saga of deeply troubled actress Brittany Murphy-who died at 32 last December from pneumonia, anemia and multiple-drug intoxication-has taken yet another dark turn. Jeffrey Morgenroth, the actress' business manager for three years before her death, tells Scoop that Brittany's mom, Sharon, 57, is in danger of losing the Hollywood Hills mansion she shared with her daughter and son-in-law Simon Monjack, who died in May at 40 of anemia and pneumonia. (Rumors that toxic mold caused their deaths are "absurd," says Sharon.) Morgenroth alleges that Monjack decimated the late actress' cash reserves by 80 percent, forcing Sharon into financial uncertainty. "There were huge amounts of money in the pension plan and bank account," says Morgenroth. "All of that's gone." Just after Simon's death, Morgenroth's assistant Jeannette Bycott says she witnessed a scene in which Monjack's mother, Linda, approached Sharon "and stated the house was now hers. She said, 'You better leave!'" Linda-who denies making that demand-says that neither she nor her son took anything from Sharon. "If there is money missing, I have no idea where it is."
Morgenroth also echoes reports from Brittany pals that Monjack controlled her, even cutting off her phone when the pair wed in 2007: "A couple of times, Sharon or Brittany would pick up, and all of a sudden I'd hear Simon say, 'I've got the phone, hang up now!'" Meanwhile Morgenroth says Sharon isn't ready to discuss anything negative about her late son-in-law: "She'll say, 'I can't deal with that yet.' She's coming around. Slowly."
After beating breast cancer in 2009, the actress, 38, is expecting with her fiancé, musician Martyn Lenoble, 41. "It's not about you anymore," she tells Scoop.
The actress, 34, and her actor-writer husband, Hayes MacArthur, are expecting their first child this winter. Her cravings? "Cupcakes, pizza, pasta-I'm loving it," she says.
COUNTRY BABY BOOM!
DIERKS & CASSIDY BENTLEY
"We're so excited that our [21-month-old] daughter Evie is going to get a baby sister or brother for Christmas," country star Dierks, 35, tells Scoop. Baby No. 2 is due in December.
JOSH & JENNIFER TURNER
Already parents to Hampton, 3, and Colby, 1, the singer, 32, and his bandmate wife are expecting their third child next year. Kids "have made me a better man," he says.
INSIDE LINDSAY'S LIFE IN JAIL
Sitting in a 12'-by-8' cell for roughly 22 hours a day, Lindsay Lohan, 24, sobbed through much of her first week at a Lynwood, Calif., jail after arriving July 20. "She was crying," Pretty Wild star Alexis Neiers, 19, told E! about her former cell neighbor. "I could hear her." Said Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley: "The first two days are always the hardest. Lindsay's doing the best she can. There were tears." Despite the unappealing menu-bran cereal for breakfast, bologna sandwiches and Fritos for lunch, and a typical dinner of what inmates call "scary-yaki" (bits of dehydrated tofu floating in teriyaki sauce)-Lohan has devoured her meals and appears to sleep soundly, says a jail source. Now halfway through her expected two-week stay, the actress isn't allowed to smoke and spends her hour of free time making phone calls. "Lindsay's roots are already showing, and she has dark circles under her eyes," says an inmate. Lohan will serve three months of court-ordered rehab upon release. "Lindsay's fine," Holley said after a recent visit. "She's doing better every day."
ORLANDO & MIRANDA
Just a month after confirming they planned to wed, Orlando Bloom, 33, and Miranda Kerr, 27, quietly tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the Caribbean. (They stayed at the Viceroy Anguilla for a few days before heading to an undisclosed locale July 20.) Says Kerr's mother, Therese: "They truly are ... very much in love."
TERESA GIUDICE'S POSSESSIONS
ON THE AUCTION BLOCK
Teresa Giudice is facing more financial woes. First, the trustee assigned to her bankruptcy case accused Teresa, 38, and husband Joe, 40, of concealing assets. Now he's ordering the sale of more than 30 pieces of personal property, ranging from a speedboat to their bedroom set. Her attorney Jim Kridel denies the pair hid assets and vows to appeal the auction, but for now the sale will go on at her Towaco, N.J., mansion on Aug. 22.
