"So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him," Hilton Tweeted on Tuesday morning. She also posted a picture of police in a courtyard next to a handcuffed man wearing jeans, sneakers and a gray sweatshirt.
The suspect, Nathan Parada, 31, was taken into custody at 6:30 a.m., according to Officer Gregory Baek.
"In the early hours of this morning an armed man with two kitchen knives attempted to break in to Paris Hilton's home when she was sleeping," her rep said in a statement Tuesday. "The security cameras and alarm system were alerted and the police immediately came to the house and arrested the intruder who was attempting to break a window when they arrived. Paris is naturally shaken by the events but is unharmed and well."
Hilton, 29, has dealt with intruders before. Burglars took an estimated $2 million in valuables from her home in a jewel heist in 2008.
Many of those items were subsequently returned, but Hilton felt "very, very violated" after the experience, according to her younger sister Nicky.
