T.I., who is still on probation after serving prison time in a federal weapons case, was arrested late Wednesday night during a traffic stop on Sunset Boulevard when deputies smelled marijuana coming from his vehicle, says sheriff's spokeswoman Nicole Nishida.
The 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., and his wife, Tameka Cottle, 36, were booked for investigation of possessing a controlled substance and posted bail at 4 a.m.
In March, T.I. completed a term for federal weapons charges – seven months in prison and three months in a halfway house – and was under supervised release at the time of the drug arrest.
Under the terms of his probation he was ordered not to commit any crimes in federal, state or local jurisdictions and barred from illegally possessing a controlled substance.
