Yes, Joran Van der Sloot extorted money from Natalee Holloway's parents. He did it for revenge.

The accused killer of a 21-year-old Peruvian woman and suspect in the Holloway case confessed to taking money from the missing teen's family for revealing the location of Natalee's body.

"I wanted to get back at Natalee's family," Van der Sloot said from prison in Peru according to an interview published Monday in a Dutch newspaper. "Her parents have been making my life tough for five years."

U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance said in June that Van der Sloot, 22, would face one count of wire fraud and one count of extortion for trying to extort more than $250,000 from the Holloways.

Twice arrested but never charged in Holloway's disappearance, he added, "When they offered to pay for the girl's location, I thought: 'Why not?'"

Van der Sloot is currently awaiting trial in Peru.
