His Got Talent shows have conquered the TV schedules on both sides of the Atlantic, but now Simon Cowell wants to go global.

"I like the idea at the moment that we have to involve other countries," Cowell said at the British Academy Television Awards on Sunday. "I like the idea of England taking on other countries. That really excites me. It really does."

In Cowell's eyes, the show World's Got Talent would be a natural extension of the success of America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent, and would, according to reports, pit winners of local shows against each other.

"You just make it bigger," Cowell said. "And I think we’ve got the opportunity to do that."

But AGT hosts Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel shouldn't count on global domination just yet, because Cowell sees World's Got Talent in a different format.

"The show would have to work without judges," he says. "What might be good is that along with Piers Morgan and U.K. judge Amanda Holden, I could do a running commentary for the U.K. feed where we would make our own remarks about the acts."
