Niecy Nash Is Looking for ‘Redemption’ on Dancing with the Stars
"Let me tell you something, it will be the battle of the mothers," Nash, 39, told PEOPLE at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.
The Reno 911! star, who's partnering up with Louis Van Amstel when Dancing returns March 22, said she wasn't surprised to get the call to be on DWTS.
"It just seemed like the right thing to do," she said. "I am dancing for redemption. I haven't put on a leotard since I was put out of my eighth grade dance class. So I'm trying to prove to my old dance teacher that I can do it."
As for her biggest competition? She predicted it will be 80-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin. "I peeked in on Buzz's rehearsal," she told PEOPLE. "He has some hip moves and I don't know if America is ready for it." --Nicholas White and Catherine Donaldson-Evans
