Erin Andrews Doing Dancing to ‘Get My Groove Back’
"My biggest concern was, what are going to say? Will say I was using this to get on the show?" explains Andrews, 31.
After careful consideration, she decided to cast aside her concerns and put on her dancing shoes. "If I decide to hide because I'm worried what will say about me, then what kind of an example am I?" she says. "I'm basically saying, 'We're victims. Let's continue to be victimized.'"
With that decision behind her, Andrews, who will dance with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, has a different set of worries ahead: What will the coaches and players of the NFL think?
"Being surrounded by men and covering sports, I love that work hard," she says. "I pick on coaches and athletes. I've developed a thick skin. A lot of coaches will say, 'So and so is missing a game tonight.' And I'll say, 'Take your skirt off!'"
But Andrews, whose sister is a professional dancer, is hoping she'll be a strong competitor. "I grew up dancing. I danced in college," she says. "It's not rare to see me put a routine on for my coworkers in the football stadium. I thought this was a great way to get my groove back." --Lisa Ingrassia
