For Jillian Harris
and her beau, Ed Swiderski
, Valentine's Day means spending time with family -- and escaping the chill of Chicago -- by spending a 10-day vacation in Maui, relaxing with Harris's parents and other family members. "I think we are likely going lean on each other for our first Valentine's together," Harris says. "We'll likely be getting each other a Mai Tai and maybe a nice lei!"
Outside of surfing lessons and skydiving at their dreamy beach location, Harris says she and Swiderski are planning a relaxed and low-key holiday, and she recommends the same for every couple out there. “For a romantic Valentine’s Day,” she says, “I think just focus on each other.
Put those darn phones and computers away and turn off the TV and have a good old-fashioned conversation!”
By way of example, Harris says, “I love talking about things I am grateful for. It always puts me in a good mood, so that would be a great little way to show someone what you really love about them and can't live without!"
Harris adds, "V-Day is all about love, love, love. Don't forget to be extra kind to everyone that week. Smile and say hello to passersby on the street and if you have time, lend a hand to those in need." -- Cynthia Wang
