Thursday's episode of The Vampire Diaries raised the stakes for all of the inhabitants of Mystic Falls -- vampires and mortals alike!
Following last week's reveal that she was adopted, Elena questioned Aunt Jenna about her birth mother, desperate to find an explanation for her resemblance to Katherine. But unfortunately, all Jenna could reveal was the mystery woman was a 16-year-old girl named Isabel who fled town immediately after giving birth.
Meanwhile, hunky history teacher Alaric Saltzman tried to crack Damon, the vampire he witnessed murder his wife, by questioning him at the school's sock hop dance. After Damon grew suspicious, he sent Alaric scurrying back to Jenna, a fellow chaperone who was only too pleased to have his attention for the night. As Alaric walked Jenna home, he apologized for constantly bringing up his dearly departed missus, Isabel -- that's right, Isabel -- who he also mentioned was a native of the area. … -Kiran Hefa
