Gossip Girl is back! After the van der Woodsens and Humphreys cleaned up the remains of Jenny's raging sweet 16 -- sans Serena -- life on the Upper East Side has returned to normal. With one society wedding and a disastrous Passover, though, the episode was screaming, "OMG."
Serena was back from her trip to Spain and apparently now a "Mrs." After too much Rioja and a night of skinny-dipping Serena said "sí" with Poppy's boyfriend. According to Serena, Poppy and Gabriel broke up after just a few days and instead of heading back to the Big Apple with her heartbroken friend, Serena stayed in Spain and got hitched!
Seeking an annulment, S crashed the Waldorf-Cyrus Passover to talk to Blair's stepdad, but when Gabriel tracked her down, an unlikely cater waiter comes to her aid: Dan! That's right, Humphrey took a job as a waiter to help his dad pay for college, but when Rufus, Lily and Serena showed up, Dan ditched the job to be Serena's stand in boyfriend.
After Gabriel left the party, Serena found out that they weren't married after all and decided to give it a go at dating him. Poor S, too bad he is still with Poppy!.
Blair officially lost Yale, but gained Nate instead, and with Nate came grandfather Vanderbilt. When Nate found out he got into Columbia without the help of his almighty family name, grandfather Vanderbilt enlisted Blair to help him get Nate back on the "track" for Yale. Her reward? Immediate acceptance into New York high society, of course. But, before Blair got her photo in the Style section, Nate embarrassed his grandfather and crushed Blair's dreams of becoming a socialite. After a brief moment of doubt and a pep talk from Chuck, Nate gave Blair another chance. -- Andrea DeSimone
