Belinda Carlisle Is Dancing’s First Casualty

This is one time Belinda Carlisle and her partner Jonathan Roberts had hoped not to come in first: They became the first pair voted off Tuesday's DWTS results show.
They landed in the bottom two alongside Steve Wozniak and his partner Karina Smirnoff, who were at the bottom of the leader board after two weeks of competition.
In a Dancing first, the two couples went toe-to-toe in a dance-off that the judges scored. The new scores were then combined with the viewers' votes--which account for 50% of the couples' scores-- from the last two weeks of competition.
Carlisle and Roberts hit the parquet first to repeat their salsa, which was criticized by the judges Monday for lacking in hip action. While the singer put more swivel in her salsa, the rest of her routine fell apart.
"We did see a little more hip action," said Len Goodman after her second stab at the salsa. "The problem is when you concentrate on one thing, you forget about something else. There were a couple of mistakes in there." Those errors cost the couple: they earned a 17 out of 30, one point lower than the salsa they performed on Monday's show. Then it was Wozniak and Smirnoff's turn. They repeated Monday's quick step--and this time the Apple co-founder seemed to step up his game. The audience gave the pair a standing ovation following their performance. "You're not a good dancer, you're not," Bruno Tonioli said. "But I love watching you." Carrie Ann Inaba even thought she saw improvement. "I actually thought you were better tonight," she said. "But you also had a little hmm huh in the middle there." In the end, the couple matched their score from Monday's show, earning another 17 out of 30.
But once the judges' scores were tallied with the viewers' votes, Wozniak and Smirnoff edged out Carlisle and Roberts.
"I had a great time," a disappointed Carlisle said in her farewell speech, adding, "I wish i could have done better for Jonathan, because he's a great teacher."
Next up for the remaining couples: the fox trot or the samba.
