When we last left the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) had declared war on her new English teacher, the young Ms. Rachel Carr, who was getting on Serena van der Woodsen's (Blake Lively) good side, but didn't feel like playing nice with Blair. While the Queen B was serving out detention (by having her housekeeper Dorota pick up trash in Central Park), Carr convinced the school's head mistress to ban cell phone use while class was in session. This rule might have worked in suburbia, but this is the Upper East Side; Nelly Yuki needed to check the DOW and Hazel needed to read Gossip Girl.
Suffering phone withdrawal, Blair and the "Step Girls" hide in the bathroom until Dorota snuck them their phones. Not wasting a second, the girls dug through Carr's past, looking for something they could use to get back at her. When there was no dirt to be found, they stumbled upon an awkward flirtation between Carr and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) in the hallway. While some would kill to have a rumor started about them on Gossip Girl, Carr pulled the beloved blog under scrutiny and got Blair expelled for slander. Say goodbye to Yale, B.
Though a library donation in her name might have been in order, Daddy Waldorf was in from France and at a parent's meeting in Blair's defense. Meanwhile, Serena was chasing Carr in the Village. When she finally caught up with the teacher, she finds her sharing a seemingly intimate coffee with Dan. With the quick snap of a cell phone camera, Blair's rumor became fact.
Thought nothing really happened at first, Dan and Carr's relationship was a little to close for comfort with breakfast before school and coffee at night. After the two bonded over not having a driver, it was inevitable they would wind up together. Once Rachel was axed for the incriminating photo, Dan went to her house and the pair wasted no time getting down to business.
We can't wait for Serena to find out. If Rachel was scared of Blair, she better call in reinforcements for S.
