Gossip Girl Spin-Off to Focus on Serena’s Mom Lily

If we've learned one thing from watching Gossip Girl, it's that the truth is never far off from the rumors. Such is the case of those GG spin-off rumors.

The show's executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are teaming up to create a new pilot that will focus on Lily van der Woodsen (played by Kelly Rutherford on GG) growing up in Los Angeles in the '80s.

The show will chronicle Lily's "wildchild teenager" days, according to a release from the CW. That includes her falling out with her parents, her subsequent move to the Valley to live with her black sheep sister and (gasp!) going to public school.



This backdoor pilot will air as the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl. --Liz Berman
