Desperate Housewives: Will Mike & Susan Rekindle Romance?

12/08/2008 at 12:00 AM EST

It was a busy hour on Wisteria Lane on Sunday. Carlos regained his vision. Andrew announced his impending nuptials. Porter was arrested, bailed out, threatened and then skipped town. Lynette staged a cover-up and leveraged the family business. Susan and Mike discussed getting back together after their son made his hopes crystal clear. Dave saw dead and Edie was still oblivious to the evil sleeping next to her. Boy, we smell a holiday cliffhanger coming up on Desperate Housewives. -- Carrie Bell

Susan Mike took MJ to the zoo and Katherine tagged along, but the outing did not go smoothly. They returned home early after MJ threw his hot fudge sundae in her hair while his dad and his new girlfriend discussed spending the holidays in Bermuda. When they came to pick up MJ to try again, Susan told Katharine that she shouldn't have any more problems with their son and Katharine accused her of "talking trash" to him about her. Susan swore to Edie, who had witnessed the conversation, that she'd "never said a negative word about them dating ever." Edie charged, "You don't have to say anything. It's the way you act when she's around. Kids pick up on that stuff."

Susan joined them at the bowling alley and tried to send MJ better signals. It worked until he caught a glimpse of Mike's hand on Susan's as they took a walk down memory lane. When Katharine started flirting and asking Mike for help, MJ dropped his ball on her foot. Susan and Mike sat their son down to get to the bottom of it and MJ said, "They can't be together because you and mommy are getting back together. That's what mommy said."

Susan tried to explain: "It was about a month after you moved out. It was bedtime and I was trying to read to him. But he only wanted you. He was crying so hard and he kept asking if you were ever coming back. So I finally said, 'Maybe you would.'" Mike chastised her a little, questioning why she said it. "Because we've never looked each other in the eye and said that there is no chance we are ever getting back together," she said. Mike claimed they'd both moved on, but wouldn't answer when she asked him if to confirm that he never thought about the possibility.

Bree Orson's surgery cured him of his snoring and Bree wanted to leave his doctor a thank you card on his deck. There, she discovered a photo of her son wrapped in the doc's arms. A confrontation with Andrew revealed that the two had started shacking up six months earlier and he hadn't told her because she had never been supportive of his sexual orientation.

Bree convinced Andrew to let her have them over for dinner to prove her tolerance. Bree also invited the only other two gay guys she knows, Bob and Lee, who thought the doc looked familiar and realized they'd seen him in porn. At dinner, the doc let it slip that he and Andrew were planning to get hitched. Bree offered to handle all the details and noticed Bob and Lee whispering again. She cornered them in the kitchen and they admitted that they saw him -- all of him -- in Rear Deployment.

Bree rented the film and showed it to Andrew, but he already knew about it and said the doctor did it to pay for medical school. "We both know that I have an interesting past myself. So glass houses. Stones. Not to mention the fact that I love him very much," Andrew explained. "Even with his sordid past, he's the one." Bree explained that she meddled because she wanted to protect him. In a very sweet moment, Andrew called it "the nicest thing she'd ever done for him. Not every boy can say that his mother is willing to rent gay porn for him."

Edie As Dave was unpacking his trunk and Edie was babbling, he saw a brown-haired woman holding a child in playground across the street. He closed his eyes and squeezed a glass until it broke and left him bleeding in what seemed like an effort to make the vision (?) go away. The next time he saw the mystery mom and child they were walking up the lawn and onto the porch. He closed the door on them, but said, "You have to leave. This isn't a good time. I will come see you tomorrow. Just know that I love you and that will never change."

He kept his promise and visited the cemetery. "I know it must seem like I've forgotten about you. I think about you every day," he said to the headstones. "I live for you just like always. I have a plan so I hope you can wait a little longer. I'll be with you soon. But first Mike Delfino has to pay for taking you away from me. He destroyed what I loved the most and I want him to feel that hurt. I want him to lose what I lost."

Gabrielle After his operation, Carlos began to see light and could make out fuzzy shapes, which was supposed to last about a week. Despite confusing Gabby with his male doctor, he was thrilled enough for celebratory hanky-panky on the gurney.

During a homecoming party, Susan and Bree found out that Gabby sold a baseball signed by Lou Gehrig when the car needed tires, assuming Carlos would never know the difference. She tracked down the buyer who said he would only give it back if she danced for him on the table. She refused, but returned home to find Carlos crying because he could see his children. He noticed a painting was missing and Gabby explained that she had to sell it to make the mortgage. "I don't care about things. I can see my family and that's what's important," he said. Gabby let out a sigh of relief, but when she came clean about the ball, Carlos was mad and demanded that she get it back as it was one of only two things he asked her not to sell.

She returned to the man's office and hopped up on the table to get the collectible back. While she was out, Carlos noticed how empty her closest was and realized how much of her own haute couture, jewelry and designer stilettos she had sold to keep the family afloat. Carlos ended up selling his heirloom and surprised Gabby with a new dress. "Thank you for taking such good care of us," he said. "I'm selling my watch to buy you some shoes to go with the dress." She used her free pass to admit that "the watch is a knockoff. I sold the real one two years ago to get the roof fixed."

Lynette Cops showed up to arrest Porter for the club fire based on Dave's false testimony. Bob the gay lawyer agreed to represent Porter and met with him and his parents to discuss the case. He claimed he had an alibi and told them he'd broken in to Edie's house to steal her gun in order to scare his lover's abusive husband, but found the club on fire upon returning and ditched the firearm in mom's flour jar. It was not so much an alibi as a confession to another crime, which Lynette returned home to clean up. Bail was set at $20,000 and the family resorted to putting up the restaurant as collateral to get him out.

Now free, Porter took his sister to the park and Ann's spouse showed up threatening him. Porter was shaken so badly by the encounter that he sent Preston in his place to the hearing to give him a head start on skipping town. Knowing they would lose their business, Lynette reminded Tom that he always says that she knows just what to do in a crisis and instructed him not to ask questions and Preston to act like his brother.
