After his public breakup with Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas, Jesse Csincsak doesn't have to be reminded that every rose has its thorn.

"I'm cut right now and I'm bleeding," Csincsak, 26, told PEOPLE of the emotional split. "I just want to stop the bleeding and heal up."

The two, who met on the ABC reality show this year and made their relationship official on the season finale in July, were engaged for four months before Pappas decided to call it off.

"I was flabbergasted by the whole thing," he admitted while attending a private party at L.A.'s newest hot spot Bar Delux. "Losing the person that you love is hard enough, and all of a sudden, a ton of know about it. I felt a little bit bitter about it."

Csincsak responded to the split by posting a message to Bachelorette fans on YouTube, letting them know Pappas broke up with him because "she wasn't willing to try anymore." "I just wanted to get my feelings off of my chest, and whether understood it or not, I just wanted to feel better," said Csincsak, "so I shot the video and put it on YouTube to relieve some of that pressure."

He's also leaning on family and friends who have rallied to his side. "My mom just wants to take the pain away," he said, "and almost every single one of the final twelve guys from the show have called me to say, 'Welcome back!'" --Reagan Alexander
