Toni Braxton’s Surprise Dancing Elimination
In the first surprise elimination of the season, Toni Braxton and her partner Alec Mazo became the fifth couple voted off Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday's Results Show.
And the exit certainly came as a surprise to Braxton, who up until Tuesday's show had never found herself in the bottom two. She and fellow red-light newbie, Susan Lucci, found themselves in the bottom spots after Monday's dance in which Braxton performed a West Coast swing that underwhelmed the judges and Lucci's hustle was deemed disco-lite.
The singer looked shocked and immediately gave a resigned wave to the audience as she and Mazo made their way down to hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris for their final farewell.
Braxton admitted she was disappointed that she never had the chance to perform her breakthrough dance, but said, "I wanted to do better, to breathe better and I was definitely breathing better. I've come a long way from week 1 to week now."
As for her future plans, Braxton stopped short of saying she was ready to conquer the Vegas stage just yet ("I still have to build up to performing for an hour and a half"), though she admitted "this has been very good for me."
