Dancing Kicks Off with a Live Three-Night Premiere
The ballroom floor is buffed and ready for rumbas, cha chas and tangos! Season seven of Dancing with the Stars starts off with a three consecutive nights live premiere week on ABC beginning Monday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET.
In an effort to keep things ‘fresh,’ producers decided to throw this year’s cast a curveball of sorts. All of the dance couples have had to learn two routines for premiere week. On Monday, all 13 contestants will perform their first ballroom or Latin dance. The judges will score and the audience will vote. The results will be revealed on Tuesday night … but in the form of a cruel suspense game.
Producer Conrad Green tells PEOPLE, “Tuesday night’s show will be a results show and a performance show. One couple will go home, but we won’t reveal who that is until the end of the night. One by one we’ll announce who’s safe to dance on Tuesday. That will be a really dramatic night. It’s the toughest test by far.”
One more couple will be eliminated on Wednesday’s results show, which will feature musical performances by The Jonas Brothers and Jesse McCartney.
Starting Monday, September 29, Dancing will return to its usual format of a Monday night live performance show and a Tuesday night live results show.
This year’s celebrity lineup includes: actresses Cloris Leachman and Susan Lucci; actors Cody Linley and Ted McGinley; athletes Warren Sapp, Maurice Greene and Misty May-Treanor; comedian Jeffrey Ross; singers Lance Bass and Toni Braxton; chef Rocco DiSpirito; television personalities Kim Kardashian and Brooke Burke.
