Project Runway is going Hollywood in more ways than one when season 6 kicks off in January on its new network, Lifetime.
"They’re going to get much better sewing machines and things like that," producer and host Heidi Klum told PEOPLE Wednesday at a Marie Claire bash to welcome Runway judge Nina Garcia to her new post at the magazine. "A lot of times they were always complaining about how bad the equipment was because they were in a real school," Klum said. "But we have some really killer, stellar new things for them so they can’t be complaining about that anymore."
Among the other changes, Klum says, is a move to Los Angeles. Unlike New York where space is at a premium, on the West Coast everything will be scaled up."The look will change," Klum said. "The set will change a little bit. It will be a little bit bigger because we have more space." While many of the changes are welcome, the essence of the show will remain the same, Klum assured: "The gist of the show, the heart of the show will stay the same; the new cast, they will make it different."
One other possible difference: the access to Hollywood, said Garcia. Otherwise, she confirmed: "The judges, Tim, everybody’s on board." -- Kathy Ehrich Dowd and Brian Orloff
