Amy Poehler Getting a New Office?
A baby might not be the only big change coming to Amy Poehler’s life.
The actress, who will become a first-time parent alongside husband Will Arnett in the late fall, is reportedly in negotiations to appear in a starring role in a new series following NBC’s The Office, according to Hollywood trade publications.
NBC initially described the show as an Office spinoff, but it is now being called an entirely new series. The only actor confirmed so far for the cast is comedian Aziz Ansari.
If Poehler accepts the role, she’ll be following in the footsteps of her Baby Mama costar Tina Fey, who left Saturday Night Live for her own show, 30 Rock. The Hollywood Reporter speculates that Poehler may leave SNL for the new show.
Poehler joined the SNL cast in 2001, and has since garnered popularity as a "Weekend Update" anchor and for her imitations of Hillary Clinton.
The show is scheduled to debut after the Super Bowl in early February. -- Shreya BaxiMary Ellen Matthews/NBC
