• Can fellow British reality TV judge Piers Morgan make Simon Cowell look like a cuddly knut? The answer: yes. "Who wants to watch me go soft for goodness sake?" the America's Got Talent judge tells TVGuide.com about the new season, which premieres tonight (on NBC, 9 p.m. ET). And he promises he'll continue to give fellow judges Sharon Osbourne and The Hoff a hard time, too.

• Paging new interns! When ER returns for its final season, four new cast members -- Shiri Appleby, Julian Morris, Emily Rose and Victor Rasuk -- will scrub down for duty. Is this a ploy to outnumber the interns on Grey's Anatomy?

William Hurt will be reuniting with his Big Chill costar Glenn Close on her FX series Damages next season. Sure, they go waaay back to '83, but Close's character, litigator Patty Hewes, is said to be charging Hurt her regular hourly rate.
