• After her cocker spaniel Sophie died last month, Oprah Winfrey has decided to dedicate an entire show to animal abuse at puppy mills. We're sure Sophie would have wanted it that way.

Matthew Broderick will appear on an episode of 30 Rock as a "an enthusiastic, clean-cut government employee who befriends Jack (Alec Baldwin)." Then they decide to skip out of their jobs, take a car that doesn't belong to them and go to a baseball game.

• During David Beckham's segment on the Tonight Show, the soccer star admitted to host Jay Leno that he was nervous about his bare-all photo shoot for Emporio Armani because his "mum" was going to see it. We're fairly sure she's seen it before, Becks.

Roger Ebert has ended his run on Ebert & Roeper because he's still unable to speak after his latest cancer surgery. Richard Roeper was unavailable for comment, as he was busy putting his name up on the marquee.
