What’s Brooke White’s Best Performance?

03/06/2008 at 12:00 AM EST

Heading into the top 12, Brooke White is emerging as one of the top female contenders on American Idol. Last week she wowed the judges -- and TV WATCH readers -- with her guitar playing and singing when she channeled Carly Simon for a performance of "You're So Vain."

This week she earned top marks again with another new take on a familiar song, Pat Benetar's "Love Is a Battlefield." But this time, instead of playing the guitar herself, Brooke let the Idol band do the strumming while she sat on the edge of the stage and gave a pure and heartfelt performance.

There's just something about her folksy voice and mellow style that makes this good girl (she's never seen an R-rated movie!) great for the competition -- and one to watch in the coming weeks.
