Tuesday’s DWTS Finale: What You Didn’t See
Helio milks his Dancing victory, Mel & Maks form a fan club and more…
Got Milk?: Why was Helio Castroneves handed a jug of milk upon winning the mirror ball trophy? It's an Indy 500 winning tradition, of course! Castroneves's sister Kati told PEOPLE: "The production said if he wins, we will give him milk." But the racer wasn't so sure he'd cross the finish line first. Before Tuesday's finale, Kati says her brother was a little nervous. "He said, 'You know, we are one point behind Mel'… he's a racecar driver and he wants to win. He doesn't want to finish second. I'm sure he was surprised that he won."
Tom-Tom Club: Every week without fail, Mel B. and Maksim Chmerkovskiy tickled and teased– but never tripped up– host Tom Bergeron. "I always grab his bum. I love Tom!" Brown exclaimed. "I'm going to miss him so much. He's so hilarious. My favorite show is America's Funniest Home Videos, and he gave me 12 DVDs and I'm addicted." Chmerkovskiy is a big fan, too. "Tom is such a great guy and he's so funny," he said. "He keeps this show together."
Don't Cry for Marie: Brother Donny Osmond tells PEOPLE that he and his sister are very happy that Helio Castroneves won. "It was a great show. The ending was perfect," Donny said. "Marie, just the fact that she was in the finals was great.… I'm glad she was the first one off tonight. She accomplished what she wanted to do." And Donny says he's getting something out of his sister's successful stint, too. "Marie and I are back together again. Think about that." So, is she okay with that? "She can't stand it," he admits.
Déjà Vu: She won season four's Dancing with Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno, but Julianne Hough didn't receive her first mirror ball trophy until Tuesday morning. "They never gave it to me," she says. "I don't know why." But Hough says the repeat victory "feels new and different." "Everybody said Mel was going to win," Hough said. "I guess this season has definitely been unpredictable. I definitely think (Helio) is the rightful winner, but wow, was I shocked!" –Monica Rizzo
