Grey’s Anatomy: Are Mer and Der Over?

So, do you want the bad news, or the really bad news?
First, the TV and movie writers' strike that's now into day three may mean lots of our favorite shows are going to end with seasons that are less than half as long as they were planned to be. Grey's Anatomy, for instance, may end its current, fourth season after 11 episodes. Yikes, right?
And it gets worse. The season may end with fans left to wonder about the future of the show's signature super-couple, or rather, whether or not Derek and Meredith even have a future together. Star Patrick Dempsey tells TV Guide, "The next couple of episodes are going to be completely different with what happens with Meredith and Derek. I'm looking forward to that change and that movement . . . I just want the characters to continue to grow and to work things out realistically.
"Derek and Meredith’s relationship has gone as far as it can go. I don’t think it’s going to go unless she commits to marrying him or goes into therapy and starts working on herself. We’ll have a cliffhanger with this last show and there will be a resolve that seems to be permanent."
So tell us: Would the end of McDreamy and Meredith mean the end of the show? Will you stay tuned if the couple splits for good? –Kimberly Potts
