The supermodel curse continues as 22-year-old Albert Reed received his walking papers from Dancing With The Stars Tuesday night.

Reed, whose face has graced campaigns for Diesel and Abercrombie & Fitch, follows on the heels of swimsuit model Josie Maran, who was eliminated from the first week of the competition last Wednesday. While Maran received a lukewarm reception from the judges, Reed seemed to impress the panel with his quickstep on Monday night. But a solid score wasn't enough to keep him around for a third week. "I'm stunned but I'm not surprised," Reed told PEOPLE minutes after Tuesday's show ended. "I just don't have the fan base that other have, but that's okay. I was able to get my foot in the door, even if it was only halfway," he joked.

Reed's partner Anna Trebunskaya says she'll "miss his sparkle. We had the best time."

Wayne Newton, who was in the bottom two with Reed this week, escaped elimination despite having the week's lowest score.

"I was torn. I didn't want to see somebody I liked as much as Albert, who's worked so hard, be in that position," Newton told PEOPLE. So it's a bittersweet kind of deal. You're thrilled it's not you but you're sorry it's somebody you like."

What really bums out Reed, who will continue to model while working on developing an acting career, is that he "won't be able to hang out with these incredible every Monday and Tuesday. I've made a really cool group of friends here." –Monica Rizzo
