Margaret Cho Not Afraid to Make a Fool of Herself on DWTS

"It's definitely one of the most intense things that I've ever done," Cho, 41, tells PEOPLE. "To go from zero activity to six hours a day of dancing is really crazy. My muscles are so worked now that I feel like a furnace."
Plus, she has to brush up on dances like the Viennese Waltz and the Cha Cha with partner Louis Van Amstel in between her "Cho Dependent" comedy tour and a headlining gig at the New York Comedy Festival on Nov. 5.
But Cho is so dedicated to her training that she's even willing to take on the horrible consequences of altering her diet. "Whenever I change my food, I'm just like a dog and get diarrhea," Cho says with a laugh. "I have to slowly change my food or else I'll get diarrhea."
The comedian is on a special DWTS food regiment that consists of eating of protein and vegetables every few hours to sustain her energy.
But she's been known to cheat. "I add ice cream to everything," she says. "I'm not cutting anything out."
One thing Cho is adamant about: she didn't join the reality show to simply shed some pounds. "I'm not doing the show to lose weight," says Cho. "Losing weight was never my intention but if that happens, that's fine. I just want to become a better dancer, which has always been a goal of mine."
Though she's done some belly dancing, Cho is no expert dancer. Still, she says she's not afraid to embarrass herself on the show.
"It's my life to make a fool out of myself so I don't really think that it's bad if I'm not the most graceful dancer," she says. "I'm beyond embarrassment in any capacity. But it's really exciting to have somebody like me on the show. I'm not particularly glamorous and not a person you would think to see but I may turn it out and maybe even surprise people. You'll never know what's going to happen."
