Sing along with us: "Can you tell me how to dress … how to dress on Sesame Street?"
That's the question of the day for the iconic children's TV show and its latest celebrity guest, Katy Perry.
The pop star filmed a segment with Elmo for the show (including a kid-friendly duet of her hit "Hot N Cold" with the muppet), but when it appeared online, parents lashed out about the pop star's outfit.
The lime green mini dress in question may be relatively tame by Perry standards, but parents argued that their children are too young for a lesson in c-l-e-a-v-a-g-e.
The clip was pulled from the show, but remains available to view online.
"We value our viewers' opinions and particularly those of parents," a spokesperson for the show said in a statement. "In light of the feedback we've received on the Katy Perry music video … we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street."
Perry's rep responded with, "Katy enjoyed working with Sesame Street … and playing dress up with Elmo."
And Perry herself Tweeted, "Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short! If you still wanna play see it at www.katyperry.com Tag you're it, Elmo!"
