In a new interview, the singer, 22, tells Extra she missed her pal Katy Perry's recent wedding in India because she was worried she wouldn't have phone or Internet service there.
"I was crushed," Rihanna says of missing the Oct. 23 nuptials. "I was really looking forward to it – but she understood, thank god."
With Loud due in stores Nov. 10, the singer explains, "The album is coming out in two weeks, and I had to be available for a lot of approvals. We couldn't get any phone service or Internet service out there."
"It would have been a little bit irresponsible [to go to the wedding]," she says. "But at least she understood. And I was glad I could at least throw her [a] bachelorette party and be involved somehow."
Apparently, Rihanna hasn't spoken to Perry since the wedding, either. In the interview, she tells Extra's AJ Calloway that the only news she's heard from the ceremony has been through the media.
"[I heard] she got henna on her feet and hands the night before," she says of Perry's pre-wedding preparation.
Still, Rihanna is excited to release her new album.
"I just wanted to make some really good songs – fun songs that I wanted to hear," she says of its sound. "The overall sound of it is really true to what people know Rihanna for, and that's exciting."
