Spotted by filmmaker George Clarke, the clip is from a DVD extra documenting the premiere of Charlie Chaplin's The Circus.
Chaplin was nominated for an Academy Award for acting, writing, directing and producing The Circus, but took home a "Special Award" instead after he was taken out of the running for the other awards.
