Cindy McCain has been a steady presence alongside her husband, Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain – but now she's keeping some decidedly Hollywood company.
McCain is featured in a new anti-bullying NOH8 Campaign – which also features Kat Von D, Gene Simmons, Dave Navarro and Denise Richards – targeted at ending bullying of kids in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
"Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth they have no future," McCain says in the video. "Our government treats the LGBT community like second class citizens … They can't serve our country openly."
Cindy's position towards gays in the military splits from her husband, who is the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee. In September Sen. McCain lead an effort to block the repeal of the military's controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
Her timing is important. On Friday, the Supreme Court refused to stop enforcement of "don't ask, don't tell."
